Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (Darestep)

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY) is a global management consultancy. Darestep is the e-business subsidiary of the company.

the job

The United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry conceived The Government General Practitioner project to introduce multimedia kiosks into UK Post Office branches. CGEY was commissioned to manage the project. CGEY asked thequality.com to provide the front-end technical design and lead the team responsible for prototyping the kiosk application.

the procedure

thequality.com liased with CGEY analysts and the principal project architects to audit front-end technical requirements and managed proof-of-concept testing of proposed components.
thequality.com researched compatibility, known bugs, and scalability issues related to chosen technologies and project requirements looking forward.

the implementation

Proof-of-concept interfaces were demonstrated, a technical design document was produced, and seven different implementation options were presented formally for review. thequality.com provided a recommendation as to which design option to take, based on ease of development and design scalability.
The proposed solution placed an emphasis use of lightweight web page components for the user interface. thequality.com outlined the pros and cons of web page development vs. use of 'static' CD-Roms and the like. Web-browser functionality could be used, rather than building software from scratch.

the end result

The revised technical design proposed by thequality.com was accepted by CGEY management.
thequality.com produced detailed design documentation for the CGEY build team.
