So many little desktop instruments available these days, it's hard to say whether this is an emergence of a new artform or simply a fad.

The twelve principles of animation were created in the early 1930s by animators at the Walt Disney Studios.

Codemasters have announced a rhythm/action game based on the hit TV show. It's only single-player however. Doesn't sound like it will knock Gitaroo Man off it's pedestal in this house.
