I added the translucent rubberband - as i kept loosing the clipping area on dark images. the rubberband could act as a mask as Micheala suggests, but i think seeing some of the complete image is a good idea - so it doesn't get lost. And yes - i do seem to have removed some of the functionality from version 0.1 while cleaning the code... apologies!
