Meeting notes - Roger Bolton
Points of note from meeting
- He totally gets the “dodgy systems” aesthetic (the “get out of jail free” card as I call it). Suggested all manner of tricks to disguise budget in terms of nanobat POV etc… off his own bat.
- He worked for Peter Boyle for three months (setting up LOTR bespoke pipeline)
- On Ned Kelly, they actually set fire to bush and he just comp’ed fire/embers in and around the horses
- Suggested we might be able to get away with matte painting with flame/smoke elements added (http://thequality.com/flics/10weeks/gallery/album03/bushfire3)
- Pointed out HD will introduce keying artifacts but newer cameras may be less prone
- Has recent experience doing end-to-end HD pipeline on desktop machines (2G5s for 3min video). Suggested downgrading to PAL as cost-saving trade-off.
